Upper
Grand
Outdoors (UGO) Destination Marketing Organization (DMO)
focuses on the area of the Grand River Valley from
Cambridge northward to Elora. The area includes the
beautiful riverside communities of Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo,
St. Jacobs, Guelph, Fergus, Elora, plus other smaller towns, and the
regions to which they belong.
UGO
celebrates this wonderful part
of the river valley and helps visitors to access the river,
its tributaries, trails, parks, and the many ways to enjoy this area
of the
Grand.
Plus, we provide self-serve planning tools to
help visitors remain after their River outing,
to experience unique shopping, entertainment, and find that great restaurant, B&B
or hotel....all to savour "UGO Country"!
While several DMOs already exist that wonderfully represent each of the
individual communities/regions mentioned above, or the entire 300 km
Grand River Valley, none of these DMOs focus solely and specifically on the Upper Grand
River region as described above. Indeed, UGO Country communities
are a continuous region unparalleled in Canada for visitor appeal and
amenities - from symphonies to roadhouses and zip lining to nature
trails. By focusing first on the Grand River's recreational and awe
appeal, we inherently draw visitors to each and all of the regional
communities and their many wonderful offerings. Not unlike Niagara Falls
as the top level talking point for that region, so the Upper Grand River
is for UGO. And, by encouraging and facilitating visitors to take more
than one trip on the Grand via its many unique sections, they can return
many times and never have the same experience twice.
Inclusive, UGO will include no-charge links to Municipalities, DMO
organizations, their tourism partners and any/all interested,
tourism-oriented product and service providers. The only additional
listing requirement will be that the entity is located within the the
catchment area of UGO.
Importantly, more than information, UGO actually provides the services
to move people through the parts of the river and region they want to
see and do. We and our partners provide fishing, paddling, hiking, cycling, and
snow-trekking gear, transfers, shuttles, and guidance to make getting
to/from each and all of the adventure plan elements easy. Our
Gateway-to-UGO-Country location on King Street East in Kitchener
allows us easy-stop access to the thousands of travelers and visitors to
UGO Country.
We do this by starting with the question; "What would you like to do
today?".
While UGO is co-ordinated by the new owner management of Canoeing the
Grand, in and of itself, it is a not-for-profit endeavour designed to facilitate visits
and repeat visits to UGO Country.
Finally, with more and more people wanting healthy lifestyle activity
destinations for
themselves and their families, UGO provides the total
destination solution for adventure seekers,
sportsmen, and family fun planners alike.
