Your safety and comfort is absolutely our first priority. And so we invite you to remember the following and visit the links below. Our safety and paddling 101 handout is available at no charge to all paddlers.

It is the responsibility of the customer to know their skills and limitations on the water.

Canoeing the Grand provides the following safety and support services at no extra charge:
 -
free dry land basic canoe enter/exit, paddling and safety communication instruction, on request

- river hazards awareness literature
 - personal flotation device (life jacket) and safety kit including bailer, rope and whistle

Drinking while Canoeing is illegal.
A fine and confiscation will ensue.

Good advice from the Grand River Conservation Authority website:
"You are responsible for your own safety while canoeing the river. The Grand River is suitable for general recreational canoeing and a high degree of skill and experience is usually not required during the summer season. However, before stepping into your canoe make sure you've packed your common sense and your safety gear."
